Application

Joining TARA

TARA offers three membership categories:

Texas RTO dealers
$150 per store per year up to 10 stores
$100 per store thereafter
maximum annual dues of $10,000

Out-Of-State Dealers
flat $120 per year

Vendors and Suppliers
flat $250 per year

To join, simply complete the appropriate membership application form in the upper left column of this page and forward it to TARA along with your dues remittance. Your application will be processed upon receipt, and you will begin receiving the membership benefits outlined below instantly!

Dealer Membership

Membership benefits for RTO dealers, both in-state and out-of-state, include:

  1. Full access to the contents of this web site, which contains such items as the Texas Rental Act, rental agreements, fair collection practices and procedures, member store locations, proposed legislation affecting Texas RTO businesses, regulatory updates from agencies affecting RTO operations, information on Texas tax laws, meetings, conventions, and buying show information, and other information you can use in the daily operation of your RTO business.
  2. A listing of all your Texas store locations for public viewing.
  3. Compliance updates from Texas regulatory agencies.
  4. Networking opportunities with other Texas RTO owners, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry buying groups.
  5. Representation before the Texas Legislature and state agencies affecting the Texas RTO industry, and the ability to monitor and track proposed legislation from this web site.
  6. Education opportunities to enhance your knowledge of the Texas RTO industry.
  7. Ability to participate in the formulation of TARA public policy.

In addition to these benefits, your membership dues help pay for such things as lobbying expenses incurred by the association when representing the RTO industry before the Texas Legislature and state agencies, and tracking and monitoring these political venues. In addtion, your dues help defray the cost of research and analysis used in these arenas to protect the Texas RTO industry from harmful legislation and regualory proposals. Your application will be processed upon receipt, and you will begin receiving the membership benefits outlined above immediately.

Associate Membership Program (vendors only)

The TARA Associate Membership Program offers manufacturers and suppliers an opportunity to support RTO dealers in their effort to improve the Texas RTO industry through the legislative and regulatory process. All of the dues dollars received from Associate Members are used to pay for expenses incurred by the association in implementing its government affairs program. Dues for Associate Members are only $250 per year and include the following benefits designed to maximize exposure of the products and services Associate Members provide to Texas RTO dealers:

  1. Recognition as a member of TARA and a supporter of the Texas RTO industry in the Associate Members section of the TARA web site, where Associate Member company logos will be displayed with a link to their web site.

  2. The ability to post articles, product and service announcements, personnel changes, and other company information in the Associate Members section of the web site, giving Associate Members a direct line of communication with Texas RTO dealers.

  3. Free subscriptions to the new TARA UPDATE, an electronic newsletter issued by the association that instantly informs members of important industry and association news. Associate Members can register any employee to receive this important information service free of charge.

  4. Discounted registration fees to the new TARA Legislative Conference and other TARA membership meetings. Non-member fees will be significantly higher.

To post your company logo, articles, announcements, personnel changes, or any other company information in the Associate Member section of the TARA web site, simply email your document to info@taraontheweb.com. Logos must be in either jpg or eps format. Articles, announcements, etc., must be in a pdf format.
